WHMCS is a privately owned company based in the UK. We are focused on providing a stable and reliable billing system with a strong focus on development from users feedback. Our primary aim is to fill the gap in the billing system market for a single integrated system that can handle everything from client signup to support.

Started in July 2005, WHMCS is a fairly new competitor in the online billing system market. However, with the rapid development and great level of personal support offered, WHMCS continues to grow from strength to strength with an ever increasing number of companies using the system for their day to day hosting operations.

It all began back in December 2004. After looking at all the available billing systems in the market, there wasn't one that worked exactly as we wanted it to. There weren't any systems that had a truly integrated client system that also handled orders/billing & support. The existing systems were also difficult to integrate into an existing website. Hence, WHMCS was born.

WHMCS was built from the ground up with the essential features needed to simplify and streamline our hosting business. After only a few months of development, WHMCS was already saving us hours of work and we were getting some interest from people asking what system we were using. It was then that the decision was made to launch WHMCS into the billing system market to fill the gap of a single client management, billing & support solution.

WHMCS has three main goals:

• To provide a single streamlined interface for all your customers needs

Why the name WHMCompleteSolution?

The name WHMCompleteSolution (or WHMCS for short) was initially chosen because WHMCS was designed to integrate only with cPanel & WHM. However, since then, due to the demand from web hosts using other control panels who wanted to use WHMCS to manage and automate their companies aswell, a modular system has been introduced to allow WHMCS to be used with many more control panels. While it is no longer only for WHM users, we still believe the name WHMCS to be relevant as it is and will continue to be the Web Hosting Manager's Complete Solution.
